Recent years have seen tremendous progress in mapping the genetic basis of common complex disease revealing remarkable complexity and posing substantial challenges in the interpretation of these results. To address this gap, new approaches have been pioneered to generate single-cell catalogs of multimodal (genetic, genomic, epigenomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and imaging) data; faithful cell models that recapitulate disease-relevant biology; technologies for genome-scale perturbations; and powerful new ML approaches for interpreting and predicting biology.
